RESEARCH

The Research on Reflexology is growing. Standardized, controlled studies point to increased quality of life and reduced pain in palliative care. As a result, noteworthy national recognition for Reflexology and its benefits includes:

  • Reflexology has been recognized by a renewed 5-Year NIH grant (2011-2016) for $2.65 million to study the effects of reflexology in breast cancer patients at Michigan State University under the direction of Dr. Gwen Wyatt.
  •  In addition, Michigan State University researchers are testing two at-home, therapeutic approaches to help breast cancer patients deal with their side effects through a $2.1 million National Institutes of Health grant. Read More.
  • Research involving 75 female multiple sclerosis patients demonstrated that two 40-minute sessions of foot reflexology per week for four weeks resulted in a significant decrease in fatigue among women with multiple sclerosis (MS), both immediately after the four weeks of foot reflexology and two months later. Read More.
