Frequently Asked Questions

What is Reflexology?

Reflexology is defined as a scientific art based on the premise that there are zones and reflex areas in the feet and hands which correspond to all body parts. Specific pressure techniques using thumb walking, hook and backup, rotation on a point and other finger and hand techniques are used for stress reduction resulting in a physiological change in the body.

How do I find a Reflexologist near me?

You can locate a professional Reflexologist through our online directory of members. Our professional level members meet or exceed the national standard of education for Reflexology as defined by the ARCB.

Our professional level members have completed a "hands-on" Reflexology course involving a minimum of 110 hours and have also documented 90 post-graduate sessions. Many have gone on to become Board Certified through ARCB, a voluntary process that includes both written and practical exams. The core education for the Reflexologist includes the history and theory of Reflexology, the study of body systems as related to Reflexology, the study of the foot and lower leg structures, anatomy and physiology, a map of reflexes that are anatomically reflected on the feet, business practice (including ethics and business standards), as well as supervised clinical work or practicum.
